Fitness
So, I’ve now lived on my own for 3 months now. Not living with my parents has meant eating less oily foods, smaller portions, and generally, a little healthier, not much, just a little.
A couple of months ago I looked down towards my feet and noticed my gut was extending out a bit too much to my liking. I’m too cheap and lazy to join a gym, so decided its time to start jogging. My attempts at this feat are greatly hindered by our wonderful Canadian weather where it ranges from beautiful weather to snowfall in a matter of days. I can’t run in the cold, I have trouble breathing. But alas, I see warm weather in the forecast, so inshallah, I will begin a regular regiment of running, and hopefully take off some pounds (and inches).
Also, a couple of months ago a friend of mine introduced me to this excercise program called 100 push ups. The goal of the program is to be able to do 100 consecutive push ups after completing the 6 week program. Sadly, mid way through the second week I got quite sick and had to stop. After many weeks of recovery I started back on week 2 and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Initially I was only able to do a measely 13 pushups, and after 2 weeks I did a little over double that in the exhaustion test. I, however, am stuck on week 4 at the moment, as I decided to hit the driving range last weekend and some unused muscles are sore from that experience. I shall start again on week 4 next week…promise
Anyone care to join me?
Today I had the opportunity to weigh myself. And just from eating habits alone (no more pop, eating breakfast every day, smaller meals, healthy snacks), and a little bit of exercise I discovered that I have lost 6 lbs!! I was surprised! Now, if I can lose another 10 lbs, inshallah I think I will be content.
I think I should use Ahmed’s diet plan of cereal for breakfast lunch and dinner
(haha, I’m just teasing). I think he deserves a round of e-pplause for his accomplishment, well done bro, well done.

Wow, that is excellent!

Well done! At least you got started on a program, and are at week 4 already! *groans* I keep on telling myself I’ll start tomorrow… or the day after and as they say, tomorrow never comes.
Geeki Siqqiui makes me feel hopeless about myself. LOL He worked hard and got to his goal of running up the CN Tower stairs… MashaAllah! And the 2 hours of squash. Oh god! I feel miserable now. I’m off to eat some chocolate for some easy endorphins.

Well done!!! I’m sure once the nice weather starts you will loose those extra inches lol, at least you are determined to do the exercise…I wish I had that determination lol

With the kind of crappy cereal I eat, I’d likely GAIN weight on a diet like that. It’s funny, in our house we have boxes and boxes of that sugar-laden, prize-inside kind of cereal, and then ONE box of a sensible Raisin Bran or Total Cranberry All-Fiber-Whatever that we buy FOR THE KID. (Poor kid has no idea the rough deal he’s been dealt. Just wait until he’s old enough to try some from our bowls. He’ll feel so betrayed!

solace: thanks
Specs: yes, I had to start. I put my mind to it and did it
As for GS, yes…the CN Tower, I would die! I sometimes climb the stairs at work, its 6 floors, but each floor is a double floor so works out to 12…I get pretty winded and wobbly kneed by the time get up there.
Haleem: good luck. It gets tough at week 4.
Liya: thanks, and thanks
Elena: yes the weather is being weird. It was 30 degrees (C) yesterday, and only 10 today. I wish summer would come and stay. But I’ll be heading west again, so I’ll have access to the hotel gym once again.
TGW: hahaha…tsk tsk. I stopped eating those kinds of cereals (well except Froot Loops, and sometimes Lucky Charms) a long time ago. Now I don’t buy them at all…they are too expensive.
